What is SpiffBox?

  • SpiffBox is a Facebook application and standalone website where you can interact with Celebrities and other members via email, chat, sharing photos, video clips, phone calls and live video.
  • SpiffBox is different than most major social networking sites as we are more private (friends cannot see your friends), use a point system to incentivize communication and allow you to redeem points for real money.
  • Members earn points by responding to emails, sharing photos and video clips, accepting chat requests, and conducting live video appearances.
  • You may redeem SpiffBox points for US dollars via bank check when you reach a minimum level of 2,000 points (currently $20.00 or 2,000 pennies). Each point is a penny at redemption
  • Minimum age to join SpiffBox is 18 years old.

How is SpiffBox different than other websites?

  • SpiffBox is complementary to many websites - we are a Facebook application, allow for Facebook Connect and are integrated with Twitter. Accordingly, you may pull and post such content as updates and photos from these sites.
  • Our point system provides a built-in incentive to reply to communications - you earn points only when you reply.
  • SpiffBox has enhanced privacy and does not share your personal email and friend list with other friends or Members.
  • We also allow you to redeem your points for real US dollars.

What are SpiffBox points?

  • SpiffBox points are internal currency which is used to communicate with other Members on the site. For example, when you receive a new email and reply, you will receive point credits. When you initiate emails to other Members, your points are debited.
  • Each point is equivalent to $0.01 (one US penny) when redeemed. You need a minimum of 2,000 points (or $20.00 or 2,000 pennies) to redeem. SpiffBox does not redeem in currencies other than the US dollar.
  • Upon registration and validation of your email, SpiffBox may provide you with free promotional points in your Account Value (see the upper right ticker of the page when logged in). You may use these promotional points to contact other Members; however, they are not redeemable for real money. Only points received by responding to communications are eligible for redemption for real money.

The SpiffBox account validation email did not arrive?

  • Please check your personal email spam or bulk email folder to see if the SpiffBox email has arrived there. Once the validation email is retrieved, make sure you click "Not Spam" or take appropriate action to ensure future communications from SpiffBox arrives properly.
  • If you still did not get a validation email from SpiffBox, please log in and click on SpiffBox Home on the orange menu. There should be an option to resend the validation email. Make sure you wait for the new email to arrive as some email providers (most notably Yahoo) delay the delivery of emails.
  • If you still cannot validate, please contact SpiffBox at contact@spiffbox.com

The validation link in the Spiffbox email does not work?

  • If for some reason you cannot validate your new Spiffbox account using the link in the SpiffBox verification email, you can do so with a validation code that is also provided in the same email. Please log into the SpiffBox site, click on SpiffBox Home on the orange menu bar and then input the validation number in the appropriate box.
  • If the code does not work, please request a new code / email by clicking on the appropriate link and try again. Do not do this multiple times as we put time limits on how often you may do this.
  • If you still cannot validate, please contact SpiffBox at contact@spiffbox.com.

What is a Comment?

  • A comment is a short message (50 characters or less) that appears below an update posting on your or another Member's SpiffBox Home page.
  • Writing a comment will debit your Account Value by 10 points.
  • All comments are private and neither other Friends, the public or other Members may see them. Only the Member making the comment and the Member receiving the comment can see them.
  • You cannot respond to a Comment with a Comment. You have the option of sending a new email (Debit Email) to respond to a comment.

  • You can receive four types of messages in your Inbox: Email, Winks, Friending, and Notices. Winks are free to send and receive. Notices can only be received, not sent.
  • If you initiate email contact to another Member, your account will be debited. This is known as a "Debit Email".
  • If you receive a new email message and you reply, your account will be credited. This is known as a "Credit Email". If you do not reply or delete the email, you will not receive credit.
  • The "If Reply" column in the Inbox and authorization verbiage next to every outgoing email message will describe how your Account Value will be impacted should you take action with an email.
  • Friend invites will appear in your Inbox for you to accept, decline, or ignore. If you accept an invite, your account will be credited. If you invite a Member as a friend, your account will be debited. Friend invites expire at 7 days and your points are credited back to your account if there is no response or a decline.

How do I initiate email contact with another Member?

  • You may initiate email contact with another Member by going to his/her profile page and clicking the blue Email icon on the upper right side of the page. This will take you to the Inbox screen where you can write the email. Click Send and the email will be sent to the Member addressed.
  • There are two ways to initiate contact from the Inbox: 1) Click on the "New Mail" button and then click on the "Contacts" button to the right of the email body. Click on the body next to the addressee and the button "Add Selected". Then complete the email. 2) Click on the Contacts tab and then click to the right of the addressee. Then click "Send Email" and fill out the body of the email.
  • To initiate email contact with another Member, you need to have sufficient points in your account. You do not need points to reply to an email sent to you that arrives as a Credit Email.

After initiating email contact with another Member, why are points required for additional emails?

  • An email has two legs: the initiation and the return. The initiator has his Account Value debited for this (Debit Email), the returner receives point credit (Credit Email). Then the transaction is finished.
  • After an email is replied to, it moves from the Inbox to the Archive.
  • If the initiator wishes to send a new email after the initial send and return is complete, he has the option do so by clicking "Send New Email" inside the email or "New Email".

How many points am I credited by type of message?

  • You will be informed in the written disclosure part of the page how many points you may receive as it may differ depending if you have standard or custom pricing. See above for more details.

  • You cannot forward messages to other Members or to outside email addresses for security and privacy reasons.

Why can I not attach photos or files?

  • You cannot attach photos, HTML, or other files to your messages for privacy and security reasons. Should you wish to share photos please do so by posting through the photo gallery.

Why do emails and friend messages disappear from my Inbox?

  • Any email or Friend / Friend Extension Invite that you reply to will be moved from your Inbox to the Archive tab. This is done for your convenience and to ensure that you do not get debited or credited more than once for any message.
  • Notices and friend acceptances / declines will remain in your Inbox until you delete them.

May I do group emails?

  • You may do group emails by clicking the boxes next to the names and then clicking reply.
  • You may do group emails of a single type, meaning they have to be either all initiated emails (i.e., Debit Emails) or new email replies (i.e., Credit Emails). You cannot mix the two for billing reasons.
  • You can sort Message Types (e.g., Email) and Status (e.g., Credit) through the drop down menus on the upper right corner of the Inbox. This will prevent mixed message error from occurring and allow you to effectively group message.
  • Note that all group emails are automatically BCC'd (blind copied) so no other Members will know that you sent a group email.

What happens if I reply to multiple emails from the same Member?

  • To be clear, you cannot reply to a Credit Email and a Debit Email from the same Member at the same time. This is due to the fact that each email type is accounted for differently.
  • If you reply to multiple Credit Emails from the same Member at the same time, SpiffBox will send only a single email. And you will receive credit for only that email. SpiffBox follows a FIFO (first in, first out) policy. This means that the first Credit Email received will be the first replied to in a group email.

Why can't I type into the "To" field in the Inbox to send an email?

  • You cannot type in the "To" field for security and billing reasons.
  • To send an email, you must click on the email link on the Member's profile or New Email in the Inbox.

What is the Sent folder?

  • The Sent folder is provided to determine if your messages have been indeed sent.
  • The Sent folder does not inventory all your Sent messages; it only contains the latest message in the conversation thread. For a full review of all Sent messages, please visit the Archive.
  • You have the ability to delete messages from your Sent folder but nothing else. You cannot forward or reply to a sent message.
  • In addition to the Sent folder, the Archive folder provides a view of all sent messages

What is the Archive folder?

  • The Archive folder stores all SpiffBox messages, including those that have been read in the Inbox or deleted in the Sent folder. In the Archive you can only view messages; you cannot respond or delete, or take any other action.
  • The Archive also provides a partial record of Account Value point credits and debits. This will help you understand the history of your transactions. For a concise view of your transactions, please visit the Consolidated Account Value Statement by clicking on the Account Value icon below your name on the upper right side of the page.
  • Messages that are unread from the Inbox will still appear in bold in the Archive. Again, messages deleted from the Inbox will still appear in the Archive.
  • If you deleted a message from your Inbox that was a Credit Email or Friend Invite/ Invite Extension message, you cannot reactivate if from the Archive.

How does the Contacts Folder work?

  • SpiffBox automatically populates your contact list with Members with whom you have had contact. These include Friends, Members you've contacted, and candidates.
  • To send a new email to a contact, you can click on the Contacts tab or Contact button. Once the Contacts are opened, you click on the box of the Member you wish to message
  • You have the ability to delete Contacts at your discretion.

How do I block/ unblock members?

  • You can block or unblock Members by going to More on the orange menu bar, then Settings and then clicking on the Block Members link. Input the blocked Members display name and follow the instructions. Thereafter, the Member will not be able to contact you. You can unblock Members using the same process.
  • Should a Member harass you or display inappropriate behavior, please report it to SpiffBox. You may do this by going to More, Settings and clicking on the Report Members link. Alternatively, you may contact us directly at contact@spiffbox.com

  • Should a Member harass you or display inappropriate behavior, please report it to SpiffBox. You may do this by going to More, Settings and clicking on the Report Members link. Alternatively, you may contact us directly at contact@spiffbox.com

What is a candidate?

  • A candidate is merely a Member who you may want to communicate with in the future. It is free to make another Member a candidate and they appear as a link in your Friend box on your Home Page in case you wish to email or Friend him/her at a later time.
  • You can add another Member as a candidate by clicking on the "Add as Candidate" on their profile page or on the Slideshow page.
  • You can easily remove a candidate from your My Home page by clicking on "Delete as Candidate" on their profile page.

You will be notified of your point credits prior to completing a communication transaction.
  • SpiffBox makes no claims that you will or even may earn income on the site.

Any tips on how to get more point credits?

  • Primary Photo: post a headshot or upper body photograph of just yourself. Profiles with clear, friendly photographs get more contact than profiles without photos according to industry sources.
  • Photo Galleries: take time to populate your photo gallery with interesting photographs that other Members want to see. Tell a story in each gallery. You have 20 Photo Galleries in addition to your Friend Gallery; populate them all! Each one is an opportunity to earn!
  • Tell a Friend: you may import your Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail email contacts and invite your friends via our Tell a Friend feature (see the More dropdown) and get 25 promotional points for every person who signs up with a photo posting.
  • Wink / View: make free contact with Members who interest you. They will notice your interest and will view your profile and likely contact you.
  • Complete your profile: the more information you provide, the more likely a Member will contact you.
  • Become an advisor in the General Advice section. You may show up on searches for General Advice in your stated category.
  • Email: Provide some substance to your emails. This will help encourage a more lasting dialogue.
  • Be nice: SpiffBox has a rating system. If you treat other Members poorly, others will take notice and this may impact the likelihood of Members contacting you. You treat them well and your positive reputation will be reinforced.
  • Be a Friend: a Friend can last from 365 days to 3650 days depending on the number of invites (each invite extends friendship by 365 days). Keep up with your friends, update your blog, and provide substance in your return emails. This should increase the strength and longevity of your friendship.

How do I redeem points for US dollars?

  • You redeem points for US dollars by going to SpiffCenter (on the orange menu bar), Redeem Points, and clicking on the button Redeem Your Points. Input the amount that you would like to redeem and follow the simple instructions. You need a minimum of 2,000 eligible points to redeem.
  • You may redeem only points that have been credited to your account by communicating with other Members (e.g., Email, Friending, and others viewing your Photo Galleries).
  • Promotional, purchased and SpiffOffer points are not redeemable.
  • Note that you may not have any outstanding Friend Invite requests open to redeem points - you must wait until they are closed out to redeem. We do this as the outcome of a Friend invite may impact your redeemable balance.

Is there a minimum redemption amount?

  • You need at least 2,000 eligible points or the equivalent of $20.00 in your account to redeem for real money.
  • SpiffBox eligible points are points that have been credited to your Account Value through communicating with other Members minus related point debits that you may have used to communicate with other Members.
  • As there are costs to us for redemption, SpiffBox charges a small, flat fee of 200 points / $2.00 to process your redemption. SpiffBox redeems only in US dollars and will not convert to foreign currencies.

What are SpiffBox eligible points?

  • SpiffBox eligible points are points that have been credited to your Account Value through communicating with other Members minus related point debits that you may have used to communicate with other Members.
  • Purchased, SpiffBox and promotional points are not considered eligible points and thereby are not redeemable.

What type of redemption payment may I receive?

  • You can only receive US dollar redemptions from SpiffBox via bank check or Paypal at SpiffBox's discretion. SpiffBox does not provide redemptions in other foreign currencies at this time.

Why may you need additional personal information for me to redeem?

  • SpiffBox clearly needs your name and address in order to mail you a check. Checks are mailed via USPS first class mail and only within the United States.
  • Depending on the circumstances, SpiffBox may need additional information to comply with various US and other laws.

Can I designate someone else as the recipient of my SpiffBox redemption?

  • For security, anti-fraud, and legal reasons, you may not designate another individual or entity to receive your redemptions.
